Fall Jump Start Program kicks off Strong!

Youth Center and area businesses brings back a second session of the highly successful JumpStart program launched in January 2013. The program is designed to introduce high school students to careers in construction.

Associated Builders and Contractors Greater Michigan Chapter Honors STEP Award Winners, Names first Safety Leader of the Year.

ABC/GMC is proud to announce its members that have won the 2013 Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) Awards. STEP recognizes ABC member companies who consistently excel in the field of safety, but more importantly it provides an evaluation tool to help identify areas to improve a company’s safety program. STEP was established in 1989, by the ABC National Environment Health & Safety Committee to assist ABC member contractors in evaluating and improving corporate safety practices and recognize outstanding safety training efforts.

Associated Builders and Contractors receives $50,000 Midland Area Community Foundation grant!

Associated Builders and Contractors – Greater Michigan Chapter (ABC/GMC) is pleased to announce receiving a $50,000 grant through the Midland Area Community Foundation. The ABC Cares… Filling the Gap initiative will address several community needs including the Shortfall in poverty related learning and educational achievement and insufficient career technical educational opportunities for secondary students, non-traditional students and the working poor.

Lansing Area hosts first JumpStart program

Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA) along with area businesses is launching a new program to introduce high school students to careers in construction. The program organized by GMCA runs for 10 weeks and meets Tuesdays from 3:30 – 5:30 pm at no cost to students participating. Throughout the Jump Start Program students will visit various construction companies for tours and learn how their business runs and what the skilled trades mean for their employees. They will also take part in hands-on projects at the GMCA facility constructing benches for the Origami Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center. These projects will not only benefit the program participants but the community as well

Program seeks high schoolers interested in construction trades.

Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA) along with Community Construct, The ROCK Youth Center and area businesses is launching its SECOND program to introduce high school students to careers in construction. The program organized by GMCA runs for 11 weeks beginning on October 2, 2013 and meets weekly after school hours and at no cost to students participating.
