2019 ABCGMC Honors Members at Awards Dinner.

Freeland, Michigan, September 2019 –ABC Greater Michigan Chapter held its annual awards presentation event on Thursday, September 12th at Apple Mountain in Freeland, MI.

Keynote speaker for the event was Associated Builders and Contractors National Chair of 2019, Tony Rader. Rader spoke of Workforce and stressed its importance which followed smoothly with the theme of the night: safety and excellence in construction.

The chapter was proud to announce the member companies that won the 2019 Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) Awards. STEP recognizes ABC member companies who consistently excel in the field of safety, but more importantly it provides an evaluation tool to help identify areas to improve a company’s safety program.

The highest honor recognizing a safety program that demonstrates the highest commitment is the diamond-level. These companies must have an incident rate at least 50% below the National Bureau of Labor Statistics average in their particular NAICS code for the current year and each of the past two consecutive years and have an EMR (or “mod factor”) at or below 0.700 (0.800 for companies under 100 employees).

Also, recognized was The 2019 “Pete Crawford Memorial” Safety Leader of the Year award, which was presented to Paul Crivac, from Three Rivers Corporation. The award was presented by visiting ABC National Director of Safety, Steve Wiltshire. Wiltshire was proud to present this award, “If we had a “rookie of the year” award on the National Safety Committee, this person would have won it, hands down. Not only does he volunteer for most assignments but, more importantly, he completes them on time! His insight, professionalism and positive attitude has been a huge asset for us, and I hope he will consider “tenure” with us at National” said Wiltshire.

The 2019 Excellence In Construction (EIC) awards were also presented at the evening’s event. A staple for chapters across the country, EIC recognizes the outstanding projects, craftsmanship and work that member companies do. Projects were submitted this year in a variety of categories.
