Lansing-area students build, donate benches to brain trauma center

Four Lansing-area teens who built wooden benches as part of a new construction trades program were all smiles Tuesday as they presented their work to a nonprofit group that helps victims recover from traumatic brain injuries.

Greater Michigan Construction Academy begins registration for Winter 2014 Classes

Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA) is now accepting registration for Winter 2014 classes. New and returning students can contact the academy to register for one of the 11 trades being offered or the Core, pre-requisite introduction to skilled trades course. 

Construction trades training begins at Saginaw’s First Ward

Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA) is taking skilled trades training to Saginaw’s First Ward Community Services.  The 6-8 week course begins on October 15, 2013 and meets Tuesday – Thursday from 4-7 pm. Students will be trained in the NCCER Core Curriculum learning basic knowledge in construction and safety. The Core class is a pre-requisite for any student seeking certification in one of the 11 trades offered at GMCA.

Fall Jump Start Program kicks off Strong!

Midland, Michigan, October 2013 – Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA) along with Community Construct, The ROCK
Youth Center and area businesses brings back a second session of the highly successful JumpStart program launched in January 2013. The program is designed to introduce high school students to careers in construction.
